So you want to get into the movie making industry?Well.... it's easy and not so easy. But not impossible! First things first. You have got to get rid of your dead weight. Yep, your dead weight. It's also called, "Stinking Thinking" The one thing people miss, is the fact they overlook "Opportunities" no matter how small they seam. You find your self making excuses. Putting on chain's of "Dead Weight!" You say things like: "I just want to be an actor." "actors don't work behind the cameras" "If it's just computer work, I don't want it!" "I didn't just want to work on the Wrap party, that's dull" "It's volunteer work? No way, I may not know much in this, but I got to get paid!
Yep, so much dead weight from stinking thinking. I remember in a interview from a producer once, he was ask how someone could be a producer, how would they start? His answer was, "I've seen people start out as floor sweepers in the studio or on set as just fire watch" They are producing movies today. But they started at the bottom, as volunteers, then paid, then producers. They didn't put on chains. The I can't or I wont attitude won't get you in the industry. Producers look at people who are willing to do the lesser jobs for nothing or little pay, and help them climb the ladder. I'm here to tell you, this is what producers like to see in people.
You can now search the internet to find jobs all day long in this business, but what is your skill set? How do you get it? Must you attend a 7 year collage to end up as security on a movie set as a producer? It's true now days, that producers want very experienced people, and that makes it hard to get into the industry. But as a fact, a producer will go to the person who volunteers or has the small job worker before hiring out, and train them. You show pride for the business. Even if you do it just as a side hobby. OJT (on the job) training can be more worth wile than lots of schooling by working by the pro's. Not as expensive also. Just think, you get to be with the actors, they are also acting coaches. free meals, free transportation, free lodging, see awesome country, travel to other countries. But nothing if you keep your self chained up. The faith movie industry is new and booming. A new beginning and NOW is the time to show your good fruits.
I hope that some of those who I work with will comment here with their stories of how they got into the industry, and tell you what you can do to get a start. YOU should ask questions here, and get their guidance. Now is your time to break those chains and stop your stinking thinking. You can get into this business or you can walk away to carry your chains. Share this page, Comment, you never know where it might lead!! Start a conversation or ask a question by being the first.
